To see bluecheek butterflyfish swim in pairs like this is no coincidence. This is one of the few fish species to have long-term mates. In the wild, the fish eats hard corals as well as benthic invertebrates and stay in shallow water. They are sometimes also called masked butterflyfish. In some areas they are shy and hide for divers but they usually come out if you move slow and wait.
I took this picture in the Egyptian Red Sea, on a shallow part, outside Tiran Island.
